Shehbaz welcomes president of Belarus in Islamabad

Two countries are expected to sign a number of memorandums of understanding during three-day talks.

ISLAMABAD: President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko on Monday arrived in Islamabad on a three-day official visit on the invitation of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The Belarusian President was received at Nur Khan Airbase by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif along with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Ata Tarar and officials from the Foreign Office.

A delegation of ministers and business persons from Belarus had reached Islamabad a day earlier. The two countries will hold talks on bilateral relations and cooperation in different sectors. They will also sign a number of memorandums of understanding during the visit of the Belarusian President and his delegation.

In a statement, Foreign Office said the President Lukashenko will hold extensive talks with Prime Minister Sharif and discuss measures on bilateral cooperation and engagement.

Several agreements and memorandum of understandings will also be signed during the visit.

The government has said that the visit of the Belarusian President along with the 68-member delegation was of significance in terms of enhancing bilateral relations in bring in investment to Pakistan besides increasing exports to Belarus.
