GILGIT: A tragic incident occurred during an election campaign rally in Gilgit-Baltistan, where two people were killed due to aerial firing.
According to reports, the incident took place during a rally of the Pakistan Muslim League (N). A participant opened fire into the air, but lost control of the weapon, causing bullets to hit people present at the gathering.
As a result, two individuals died on the spot, while several others were reportedly injured. The incident occurred in the GBA-18 Diamer-4 constituency.
Sources said the area is witnessing a closely contested election, with former chief minister Haji Gulbar Khan competing against Malik Kifayatullah.
The incident has raised serious concerns over security and safety measures during political rallies in the region.
