ISLAMABAD: The United States has closed its Consulate General in Peshawar, with responsibility for diplomatic engagement with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa now transferred to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Unit at the US Embassy in Islamabad.
The closure follows an announcement made on May 5, with the decision being implemented after a period of approximately six weeks. The US Consulate General Peshawar confirmed the closure through its social media platforms and announced that its official social media accounts would also be deactivated.
The consulate had served as a key point of contact between the United States and communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, supporting diplomatic, cultural, and development-related engagement in the region.
Future communication and coordination related to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will now be handled through the relevant unit at the US Embassy in Islamabad.
