US Vice President J.D. Vance Arrives in Islamabad for Talks with Iran
ISLAMABAD: US Vice President J.D. Vance has arrived in Pakistan’s federal capital Islamabad along with a high-level delegation to participate in comprehensive ceasefire talks with Iran.
Accompanying him were senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner. The delegation was received at the airport by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
According to reports, the US Vice President’s aircraft took a longer route, avoiding Middle Eastern airspace. After departing from Maryland, the aircraft made a two-and-a-half-hour stopover in Paris before continuing its journey.
The aircraft also avoided prolonged use of Afghan airspace and instead traveled through Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan before entering Pakistan.
The plane entered Pakistani airspace near Chitral at around 10am, where it was given a warm reception by the Pakistan Air Force. The special aircraft later landed at Noor Khan Airbase at 10:33am.
