BANNU: Pakistan Army, police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a joint operation in the Bannu district following reports of militant presence, killing 16 terrorists, including two key commanders.
Two police personnel were also martyred during the operation.
According to security sources, operations against militants under the network referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij are being carried out with full intensity by Pakistan’s security forces.
The joint operation was conducted in the Miryan area of Bannu, where intelligence indicated the presence of terrorists. Security forces targeted multiple hideouts during the operation.
Among those killed were militant commander Zamri Noor, known for spreading fear in the region, and Afghan militant commander Abdullah Saeed.
Sources said the operation was highly challenging, during which several terrorist hideouts were destroyed.
During the exchange of fire, two police officials, Constable Wahidullah Khan and Noorullah Khan, embraced martyrdom. Their funeral prayers were held with full official honors at Police Lines Bannu, attended by senior civil and military officials, local elders, and a large number of citizens.
Security sources further stated that Pakistan Army, police, and other law enforcement agencies will continue joint operations against militants with full force, and efforts will persist until the complete elimination of terrorism in the region.
