QUETTA: Baloch Solidarity Committee chief Dr Mahrang Baloch, who was detained from the Sariab area of Quetta on Saturday, was shifted to jail late in the evening.
Ms Baloch and four other women were sent to jail in Quetta for a month under section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance.
Quetta Commissioner Hamza Shafqat said that during the protest of the Baloch Solidarity Committee, violent protesters pelted police with stones.
He claimed that two labourers and an Afghan national were killed in the firing by the gunmen accompanying the Baloch Solidarity Committee leaders.
On the other hand, Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rand said that after an attack on Civil Hospital Quetta, the leadership of Baloch Solidarity Council had been arrested. He said armed men were involved in the protest by the BYC.
He said that if there was a special situation, special laws were needed, adding the Baloch Solidarity Committee was protesting for the bodies of terrorists killed in the Jaffar Express train attack in Bolan. He said the police tried to disperse the protesters with water cannons.
