President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan has said that India wanted bilateral talks with Pakistan to cover its illegal acts in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
In a special article written for a national English language magazine, he termed the restoration of the 2003 ceasefire arrangement between India and Pakistan along the LoC as a step in the right direction as it has saved lives and reduced tension.
However, he said, we should move with extreme caution when it comes to further steps and emphasized that India must reinstate Occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s disputed status in accordance with the UN resolutions and restore Kashmiris’ inherent rights recognized in Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution.
Masood Khan envisaged that Kashmiris must be part of any diplomatic discourse or process not only because they are the central party to the dispute but because no formula crafted without their consent is likely to succeed or assure an end to the turbulence in the region.
