Armed clash during vote recounting leaves two dead

Election Commission orders halt to recounting in the Balochistan Assembly seat.

HUB: At least two persons were killed and 14 others injured in an armed clash between supporters of candidates for a Balochistan Assembly seat when recounting was going on. 

Police have confirmed the two deaths and over a dozen injuries in the constituency of PB-21 Hub. In the Feb 8th general elections,  Muhammad Saleh Buttani of Balochistan National Party had been declared as the winner. 

However, the PPP and National Party demanded recounting of votes on which the Election Commission of Pakistan on February 11 ordered the recounting. When the process was ongoing, armed clash occurred outside a polling station.

As a result, two persons lost their lives and 14 others were injured. Police reached by the spot and arrested in two persons along be with guns. To ensure security, FC personnel have been deployed in the area.

After the incident, the Election Commission of Pakistan ordered a halt to the vote recounting till further orders.

It may be noted that large scale irregularities have been reported in preparation of final results in different constituencies across the country.

Four candidates who were declared winners by the returning officers have refused yo accept the seats saying according to counting of votes from all polling stations they were the losers.
