Bahrain Calls for Emergency UNSC Meeting Over Iranian Attacks

MANAMA: Bahrain has called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council after strongly condemning what it described as Iranian missile and drone attacks on its territory.

In a statement, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the alleged attack was part of a continuing pattern of actions by Iran targeting the kingdom’s sovereignty, regional security, and the safety of its citizens. It said the incident was not isolated but part of an ongoing series of attacks.

Bahrain urged the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities by ensuring the effective implementation of Resolution 2817, taking immediate measures to halt the alleged aggression, and holding those responsible accountable.

The ministry added that Iran has continued to ignore repeated calls from the international community, making a firm and coordinated international response increasingly necessary.

Bahrain said it remains committed to peace and stability in the region but reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and national security.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with regional countries continuing diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
