Belgium Fight Back to Reach World Cup Round of 16
SEATTLE: Belgium staged a dramatic comeback from two goals down to defeat Senegal 3-2 after extra time and secure a place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16.
Senegal looked set for victory after first-half goals from Habib Diarra and Ismaila Sarr gave them a 2-0 lead. However, Romelu Lukaku scored in the 86th minute before Youri Tielemans equalised three minutes later to force extra time.
With the match heading for penalties, Belgium were awarded a spot-kick following a VAR review deep into stoppage time of extra time.
Tielemans converted the penalty to complete a remarkable comeback and send Belgium into the last 16, where they will face the United States.
