ISLAMABAD: The federal government has officially announced that October 27 will be observed as ‘Black Day’ across the country to mark opposition to the illegal Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, a one-minute silence will be observed at 10:00 a.m. on October 27 nationwide. The silence is intended as a gesture of solidarity with the Kashmiri people and a tribute to their ongoing struggle for freedom.

The notification further stated that the day will be dedicated to expressing unity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and to highlight their decades-long struggle for the right to self-determination.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has instructed all public and private institutions to organize awareness campaigns, seminars, and special programs in support of the Kashmiri cause.

Every year, October 27 is observed in Pakistan and by Kashmiris around the world as “Black Day”, commemorating the day in 1947 when Indian forces landed in Srinagar, marking the beginning of the occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.
