ISLAMABAD: Negotiations between the government and its key ally, the Pakistan Peoples Party, remain unresolved as differences over the upcoming federal budget persist.
A high-level meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. The PPP delegation included senior leaders Naveed Qamar and Sherry Rehman. However, the meeting ended abruptly without any breakthrough.
According to sources, the PPP has raised serious concerns regarding increased taxation on provinces, subsidy allocations, and the size of the development budget. Officials from the Ministry of Finance were also present during the discussions.
Despite the ongoing deadlock, both sides are reportedly making efforts to resolve their differences. Negotiations are expected to continue as the government seeks consensus to finalize the budget.
The outcome of these talks is considered crucial for political stability and the smooth passage of the federal budget.
