LAHORE: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Workers (PFUJ Workers) has challenged the implementation of amendments to PECA in the Lahore High Court.
The petition was filed through Riaz Ahmed Raja, making the Federation of Pakistan a respondent in the case.
Justice Farooq Haider of the Lahore High Court will hear the petition on February 6, while Advocate Shehbaz Akmal Jandran will represent PFUJ Workers in the case.
Journalists across the country continue to protest against the PECA Act. On February 1, journalists staged a strong protest on PFUJ Workers’ appeal, rejecting the law and demanding its immediate withdrawal, calling it a restriction on press freedom.
Moreover, journalists and human rights activists have rejected to changes to PECA and announced to hold protest demonstrations across the country.
