ISLAMABAD: The foreign ministers of the G7 countries have urged both India and Pakistan to immediately reduce tensions and ensure peace and stability in the region.
In a joint statement, the G7 member states — Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States — along with the High Representative of the European Union, expressed deep concern over escalated tensions between the two neighboring countries.
The statement read: “We urge both India and Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint. Further military escalation poses a serious threat to regional stability.”
The statement emphasized the importance of direct dialogue between the two nations to find a peaceful resolution and avoid any military confrontation.
The G7 foreign ministers also expressed deep concern for the safety of civilians on both sides and assured that they are closely monitoring the situation in the region. They reaffirmed their full support for a “rapid and lasting diplomatic solution.”
This statement comes at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan appear to be rising once again, and the international community is closely watching developments between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
