RAWALPINDI: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has strongly reacted to what it described as an “irresponsible and provocative” statement by the Indian Army Chief, calling it a reflection of “war hysteria, strategic immaturity, and a dangerous mindset.”
According to the ISPR, the Indian Army Chief’s remarks about “erasing a nuclear neighbour from the map” are not only highly inflammatory but also demonstrate a failure to acknowledge ground realities. The military’s media wing emphasized that Pakistan is an established nuclear power and an integral part of South Asia’s geography and history.
The statement further noted that such rhetoric reflects a long-standing inability of Indian leadership to accept Pakistan’s existence, even after more than seven decades. It warned that this kind of “arrogant and narrow-minded thinking” has repeatedly pushed the region toward conflict and instability.
ISPR stressed that threats of annihilation against a sovereign nuclear state cannot be considered strategic signaling or diplomatic pressure, but rather indicate “intellectual bankruptcy and reckless aggression.” It added that any such misadventure would have mutual and catastrophic consequences.
Highlighting the importance of responsible conduct, the ISPR stated that nuclear states are expected to demonstrate restraint, maturity, and strategic prudence instead of using hostile and eliminationist language.
The statement concluded by urging India to adopt a path of peaceful coexistence, noting that aggressive posturing reflects failure rather than strength.
