Iran Decides to Send Technical Delegation to Qatar for Talks

TEHRAN: Iran has announced that it will send a delegation of technical experts to Doha, Qatar, later this week to discuss the implementation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached with the United States earlier this month.

Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the delegation would focus exclusively on technical and procedural aspects of implementing the MoU. He stressed that the discussions would be limited to practical issues related to the agreement and would not involve political negotiations.

Baghaei rejected reports suggesting that Iran and the United States had begun negotiations on a comprehensive or final agreement. He clarified that Tehran has not yet entered the stage of formal talks aimed at reaching a broader deal.

He further stated that no political negotiations or direct high-level meetings between Iranian and U.S. officials are scheduled in the coming days. According to the spokesperson, Iran’s current priority is ensuring the effective implementation of the memorandum through technical consultations.

Analysts say the Doha meetings could serve as an important confidence-building step, potentially paving the way for improved diplomatic engagement and future negotiations between the two countries.

However, both sides appear to be adopting a cautious approach by limiting contacts to technical matters at this stage.
