TEHRAN: Iran has said it will not hold technical negotiations with the United States until certain conditions are met and both sides agree on a date and venue for the discussions.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi rejected media reports claiming that technical talks between Tehran and Washington would take place this week in Doha, Qatar. He said no such meetings have been scheduled and the reports are unverified.

Gharibabadi added that consultations with Qatar are ongoing, including efforts to implement US commitments under a recently signed memorandum of understanding.

He said the first round of technical discussions within the designated working groups will only take place after the necessary conditions have been fulfilled and both parties reach agreement on the time and location of the talks.

The Iranian official also confirmed that consultations on the matter are continuing through mediating countries.
