SHIKARPUR: As many as 72 armed dacoits voluntarily surrendered to authorities under the Sindh government’s 2025 Dacoit Surrender Policy.
A ceremony was held at the Police Lines in Shikarpur, marking a milestone in efforts to curb organized crime and bring stability to the area.
During the event, the surrendered criminals handed over a large cache of modern weapons, including Kalashnikov rifles, rocket launchers, anti-aircraft guns, and other advanced arms, with an estimated total value exceeding Rs. 6 crore.
Among the surrendered dacoits were some of the region’s most wanted figures. Nisar Sabzoi faced 82 cases and had a bounty of Rs. 3 million.
Lado Tighani had 93 FIRs with a Rs. 2 million reward, while Sukhio Tighani faced 49 cases and a Rs. 6 million reward. Other notable figures included Sonaro Tighani (26 cases, Rs. 6 million reward), Jummo Tighani (24 cases, Rs. 2 million reward), Malan aka Wahid Ali aka Wajo Tighani (29 cases, Rs. 3 million reward), Gulzar Bhuro Tighani (14 cases, Rs. 3 million reward), Ghulam Hussain aka Namu Tighani (Rs. 300,000 reward), and Noor Din Tighani (6 cases, Rs. 1.5 million reward).
Sindh Interior Minister Zia Lanjhar, speaking at the ceremony, highlighted that the surrender was a result of coordinated efforts between the police, Rangers, and local community leaders.
He assured that the dacoits would be given an opportunity to reintegrate as law-abiding citizens but would still face legal consequences according to the law. The minister emphasized that extra-judicial killings would no longer occur, and all surrenders would be handled in accordance with legal procedures.
Minister Lanjhar also stated that the Sindh government plans to provide employment opportunities, distribute Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) cards, improve education for children, and construct roads in the Kachha region to foster long-term development.
