ISLAMABAD: Twenty-nine terrorists were killed in intelligence-based operations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, while hideouts belonging to the banned Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Fitna al-Khawarij were targeted, Information Minister Atta Tarar said.

According to Tarar, the operations eliminated wanted militant commander Khan Farosh alias Zabal, along with three other terrorists, including a commander of the Indian proxy group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.

He said the operations were carried out on the night between June 28 and 29, targeting three locations in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar. A total of 25 terrorists were killed during the strikes, and large quantities of weapons and ammunition stored at the sites were destroyed.

Tarar said Pakistan remains committed to regional peace and stability but will not compromise on the safety and security of its citizens, calling it the state’s foremost priority.

He added that under the National Action Plan and the federally approved Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue counterterrorism operations to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism.
