ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to accelerate efforts for providing electric bikes to young people and expand access to easy loan schemes under the government’s youth initiatives.

The directives were issued during a meeting on the Prime Minister Youth Programme, where progress on ongoing projects and proposals for the upcoming year were reviewed.

The prime minister emphasized that the government is committed to creating better opportunities for youth in education, skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship. He stressed the need to enhance training programs, particularly in IT and other modern sectors, to meet global standards.

He instructed the Higher Education Commission and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication to develop a comprehensive strategy aligned with international requirements. The youth program, he said, should focus more on technical and vocational training.

During the meeting, Sharif also highlighted the importance of ensuring job opportunities for young people both within Pakistan and abroad. He directed that various business loan schemes be consolidated under a single platform to make them more accessible.

Special emphasis was placed on facilitating middle-class youth through the provision of electric bikes in collaboration with the Ministry of Industries and Production. The initiative aims to promote affordable and environmentally friendly transportation while supporting economic mobility for young citizens.

The prime minister also appreciated the performance of Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, chairman of the youth program, and his team for their ongoing efforts.

Officials briefed the meeting on the performance of current projects, reaffirming the government’s focus on empowering youth as a key pillar of national development.
