Protest held against KP govt’s plan to sell varsities’ land

Protesters say public will not allow PTI govt to go ahead with govt's anti-education plan.

MARDAN: a large number of people health app protest gathering against the plan of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to sell the land of public sector universities.

The protest was held in the town of Mardan on the call of a local jirga of people. The protest was attended by students, parents, lawyer, traders and civil society representatives.

The protesters came down hard on the PTI Government and said that the previous PTI government put the Greater Education Complex project in the doldrums and now it was going to sell the land of universities which was an open step against education.

Addressing the protesters, the mayor of Mardan Himayatullah Mayar said that after the Awami National Party the PTI came to power in the province twice but it did nothing for the promotion of education. Now the chief minister of Khyber Pakthunkhwa has announced to sell the land of the Greater Education Complex project.

The protesters warned the PTI government that the land of universities was a trust of students and the public would never allow the rulers to sell the land because it would be a step against education.
