A special cargo plane will arrive in Islamabad today to pick up the splendor of the Marghzar Zoo. The Civil Aviation Authority allowed the plane to land at Noor Khan Air Base. Kavaan is being trained to enter a special cabin before moving to Cambodia.
The Cambodian government has issued a transfer permit in the name of Dr. Amir Khalil of Austria. Along with Kavaan, two foreign doctors and eight members of the technical staff will also be sent to Cambodia, while donors have paid for the transfer. Kavaan will be housed in a 25,000-acre sanctuary in Cambodia.
The elephant was gifted to Pakistan by Sri Lanka in 1985. The Islamabad High Court ordered the elephant to be sent abroad due to lack of proper facilities at the zoo, while the rest of the animals have been relocated to other parts of the country.
