WASHINGTON: The Pentagon has confirmed that about 100 US service members have been injured during the past two weeks of the conflict with Iran.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said around 100 American troops had been wounded since July 7, adding that 96 percent of the injured personnel had already returned to duty.
The update comes after the US military identified two soldiers killed in an Iranian attack on Friday.
Previously, the Pentagon had reported that 14 US troops had been killed and 427 injured since February 28.
US media reported that military officials are examining unidentified human remains recovered from the site of an Iranian strike in Jordan, raising concerns that the death toll could increase.
The United States has already acknowledged that three American soldiers were killed in Iranian attacks, while one service member remains missing.
On Sunday, the US military also confirmed that an American service member was killed during operations in northern Iraq on July 18. Earlier, two US soldiers were killed, one was reported missing and four others were wounded in an Iranian missile attack on Jordan.
