ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has directed authorities to take strict action against profiteering, particularly in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sector, and ensure timely availability of essential commodities at affordable prices.
Chairing a meeting of the National Price Monitoring Committee, the minister reviewed the prices and quality of essential food items across the country.
Iqbal also instructed all provincial governments to collect samples of milk, ghee and edible oil from every district and have them tested by accredited third-party laboratories to crack down on substandard and adulterated food products.
He said no leniency would be shown towards those endangering public health and stressed that the federal and provincial governments would work together to stabilize prices while ensuring the quality of essential commodities.
The minister called for proactive measures to provide relief to consumers amid inflation and improve market monitoring.
