ATC discharges Bushra Bibi from May 9 cases

Police request for remand turned down by ATC judge inside Adiala jail.

RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has discharged Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi from terrorism cases registered against her in connection with the May 9 riots.

The police in Rawalpindi had implicated Bushra Bibi in 12 terrorism cases registered in connection with the May 9 violence.

When ATC judge Malik Ijaz Asif took up the hearing of the cases inside the Adiala jail, Bushra Bibi’s lawyers and the prosecution counsel appeared in the court. The police sought physical remand of Bibi in connection with the investigation of the cases. However, the court turned down the request and discharged Bibi from all the terrorism cases.

Bushra Bibi has been in Adiala jail in some other cases and his release may not be possible after her discharge from the terrorism cases today. Her husband and former Prime Minister Imran Khan is also detained in the same jail in Rawalpindi near Islamabad.
