ISLAMABAD: The government has launched Africa-2 Cable Project aimed at resolving frequent internet disruptions and low speed in the country.
The state-of-the-art project will improve internet connectivity and enhance data transmission. The Africa-2 Cable Project is the world’s largest undersea network, spanning a 45,000 kilometers and connecting 33 countries with 46 integrated landing stations globally.
It may be noted that there have been complaints and issues being faced by citizens and companies about slow internet facilities. Many companies have shifted abroad after the issue was not resolved.Many netizens blamed the government for deliberately slowing down by installing firewalls to scan contents. The government has already banned social networking platform of X.
On the other hand, there have also been efforts by the government to launch Starlink service in Pakistan to provide satellite internet to the users as the government blames undersea cables for the internet disruptions.
The owner of Starlink Elon Musk recently said that his company was waiting for the approval of the government to launch Starlink service in Pakistan. Starlink has also been registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
