British Empire Medal awarded to APS survivor
LONDON: A survivor of the horrific Army Public School (APS) massacre has been honored with the British Empire Medal in Britain.
In a post in social media platform of X, the student Ahmad Nawaz said, “I am immensely honored to share the incredible news that HM King Charles III has awarded me the prestigious Hon. British Empire Medal.”
Nawaz said that the medal was an honor for the families of the APS victims, survivors and people of Pakistan. He said the award was given to him for running a campaign for the youth the past five years.
The student’s father Muhammad Nawaz said the best investment was to give quality education to children who can bring a change in society.
It may be mentioned that on Dec 14, 2014, armed men attacked the Army Public School Peshawar and martyred 132 schoolchildren, their principal, teachers and other staff.
The attackers breached the school compound by scaling a wall, and targeted the schoolchildren and their teachers.
