HYDERABAD: Federal Minister for Information Technology Shiza Fatima has outlined a comprehensive vision to establish Pakistan as a leading digital hub.
Speaking at a ceremony at the National Incubation Center in Hyderabad, she emphasized that the government aims to expand fiber-optic network coverage to 60% within the next three years, highlighting that every sector of life is increasingly moving toward digitalization.
The minister further stated that, in collaboration with NADRA, digital data is being collected and stored securely, ensuring that every individual’s information remains protected.
“The digital revolution will make information easily and readily accessible to everyone,” she added, underscoring the transformative potential of technology in citizens’ lives.
Addressing the youth and startup ecosystem, Shiza Fatima highlighted that the IT sector is providing maximum support and facilities. She stressed that, under the Prime Minister’s directives, special emphasis is being placed on startup funding and skill development.
To further strengthen the sector, human resources are being expanded, and several key infrastructure initiatives have been implemented.
Currently, eight incubation centers are operational across the country. The Hyderabad center alone has facilitated startups worth over Rs.1 billion. Annually, more than 300,000 young individuals receive training and successfully launch startups.
Partnerships with multiple universities and initiatives such as iCloud integration have further enhanced the digital ecosystem.
On the legislative front, the minister explained that the approval of the Digital Act is a significant step toward building a comprehensive digital system, designed to improve the daily lives of citizens. She also clarified that data from consumers’ purchases will not be shared with revenue authorities.
Looking ahead, under the Green Initiative, digitization efforts will also extend to the agriculture sector, ensuring that technology benefits all facets of national development.
