KARACHI: Thousands of people gathered on Shahrah-e-Faisal on Sunday to take part in Jamaat-e-Islami’s Gaza March, held in a powerful display of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Addressing the large crowd, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman hailed the Palestinian resistance group Hamas as “a symbol of pride for the Muslim Ummah.” He criticized the Pakistani ruling elite for avoiding any mention of Hamas, suggesting their discomfort reveals a lack of moral courage and genuine support for Palestine.
“The people of Gaza are laying down their lives every day. They are a symbol of resistance in the face of brutality,” he said.
Hafiz Naeem also called for the establishment of an official Hamas office in Pakistan, saying that symbolic support is no longer enough and that concrete steps are needed to stand with the Palestinian cause.
He claimed that over **67,000 Palestinians have been martyred**, the majority of them women and children, since the escalation of Israeli aggression in Gaza.
The rally featured sea of Palestinian flags, banners, and chants against Israeli oppression. Protesters demanded international action to halt the ongoing violence and held placards calling for an immediate ceasefire and justice for the victims in Gaza.
Jamaat-e-Islami has organized similar demonstrations in the past, but Sunday’s turnout was among the largest seen in recent months, reflecting growing public outrage over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
