MALE: In a strong show of solidarity with Palestinians, the Maldives has imposed a ban on the entry of Israeli passport holders amid Israel’s ongoing military offensive in Gaza.
According to international media reports, the move reflects the Maldivian government’s firm stance against Israel’s actions and underscores its unwavering support for the Palestinian people.
The government clarified that individuals holding dual nationality may still enter the country using passports of other nations.
This decision follows the approval of a bill initially introduced in the Maldivian Parliament in May 2024. After undergoing several amendments, the legislation was passed and signed into law by President Mohamed Muizzu.
The Maldives, a globally renowned tourist destination, has traditionally welcomed a large number of Israeli visitors each year. However, the new law now blocks entry to all Israeli nationals.
