Officer martyred as truck hits motorway police car

FAISALABAD: A Motorway Police inspector lost his life in a tragic accident on the M4 Motorway near Aminpur, Faisalabad, when a speeding truck crashed into a patrolling police vehicle.

According to the Motorway Police spokesperson, Inspector Mansoor Asghar was providing road safety education and briefing commuters when a Mazda truck, whose driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, lost control and rammed into the rear of the police vehicle.

The collision was so severe that Inspector Asghar was martyred on the spot. The truck driver was taken into custody at the scene, and further legal action is underway.

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan expressed deep sorrow over the incident, saying Inspector Mansoor Asghar embraced martyrdom in the line of duty. “This is a heartbreaking loss. May Allah grant him a place in His mercy and give patience to the grieving family,” he said.

The minister also highlighted the need for better training and regulation of commercial drivers to prevent such avoidable tragedies in the future.
