KABUL: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held meetings in Kabul with Afghanistan’s acting Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhundzada and Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. The discussions during these meetings focused on security and other bilateral issues in detail.
According to a spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar met with Afghan Acting Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhundzada, where they discussed security, trade, and transit cooperation.
The meeting also covered public relations and other matters of mutual interest, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening brotherly ties through high-level exchanges.
Ishaq Dar also met Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, during which the two foreign ministers discussed security, trade, and bilateral relations. During the meeting, Ishaq Dar and Amir Khan Muttaqi also shook hands.
Before his departure, Ishaq Dar stated that terrorism is a matter of concern for Pakistan and that there are security issues with Afghanistan. He emphasized that the protection of the lives and property of Pakistani citizens is of utmost importance to the government.
Ishaq Dar further stated that Pakistan and Afghanistan share numerous economic, commercial, and trade opportunities that have not been fully exploited.
He also mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to accelerate relations with Afghanistan, and that Afghanistan plays a key role in the railway link between Pakistan and Central Asian countries.
Earlier, a high-level Pakistani delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar participated in negotiations with Afghan authorities, where discussions took place on various sectors.
