MQM’s patience is running out, indicating separation from government

MQM Pakistan convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has said that the people have no choice but to take to the streets to fight the case. We are in government now, but we can choose to secede. The option of protest cannot be used while in government, we have run out of options after the approval of the census.

In a press conference with Federal Minister Syed Aminul Haq in Islamabad, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the betterment of Pakistan was not what we had hoped for. If the people of Pakistan do not benefit from the fruits of democracy, it is meaningless. How can a society which could not do the census properly do the census? In each census, the population of urban areas of Sindh was shown to be 25% less. We went to the courts even before the census and we did the same in the government, joined the main point, but the federal government approved the census despite the MQM’s concerns.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that this is more than a problem of life and death for us, when the census is not right, what will be the care of our rights, the census has sealed Sindh, Sindh has become a country. All that remains is an announcement. The Prime Minister has not kept a single promise made to us, let us be told why we are in government.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that these are not our demands but the promises of the government, a judicial commission should be formed to investigate the rigged census.
