Experts highlight importance of women financial literacy

PESHAWAR: The Department of Economics, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto women University (SBBWU), on Friday organized a seminar on “women financial literacy and Islamic banking” here.

The event was attended by faculty and students of various departments of the university.

The purpose of the seminar was to develop students’ understanding about the Islamic banking Shariah principle, their application, its products, global trends and future prospects.

The speakers discussed the importance of financial literacy for women and the concept of interest free banking.

The session was informative and the students appreciated it.

The event was also attended by the vice chancellor (SBBWU) who appreciated the efforts of the organizers.

The resource persons included Adnan Fasih Group head Islamic Banking Habib Metro, Saleem Ullah Shaikh Country Head Habib Metro Sirat and Naheed Shah Afridi Senior Vice President Area head Sirat- KP Peshawar.

The organisers of the event were Dr Khadija Associate Professor Head of Economics Department, SBBWU, Dr Fariha Assistant Professor Economics, Dr Hina Haram Lecturer Economic, Huma Johar Lecturer Economics, Tashfeen Zia Deputy Registrar Monitoring and Affiliation and Dr Hamida In charge History and Pakistan Studies.
