Pakistan Navy Rescues Sri Lankan Crew Off Gwadar Coast

KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy successfully carried out a rescue operation approximately 1,500 kilometers off the coast of Gwadar in open seas, rescuing a Sri Lankan crew following a distress call.

According to a statement released by the Navy’s spokesperson, the operation was launched at the request of the Sri Lankan Maritime Rescue Coordination Center. Upon receiving the information, the Pakistan Navy immediately dispatched its ships, PNS Moawin and Tabuk, to carry out the rescue mission.

The Pakistani vessels rescued the ailing Sri Lankan crew member from the Indonesian-flagged vessel MV GREY PALM. After the rescue, the sick crew member was transferred to PNS Tabuk, where immediate medical assistance was provided.

The statement further mentioned that the Pakistan Navy, adhering to coordinated maritime protocols, conducted the operation with professionalism and efficiency. Sri Lankan authorities, as well as the crew member’s family, expressed their gratitude for Pakistan’s swift response and cooperation.

The Pakistan Navy continues to fulfill its international maritime duties, ensuring the safety of human life at sea, irrespective of nationality.
