Sikh leader lodges case against India for his murder plot

Struggle for separate Khalistan state would continue at all cost, says Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

WASHINGTON: A Sikh separatist leader has lodged a case against the Indian government for plotting to assassinate him in the United States of America.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is the leader of Sikh for Justice organization based in the USA. He has nominated the Indian government and senior officials of RAW intelligence agency for plotting to murder him in the US. An Indian man has already been convicted in the case in the US.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in a statement said that the Indian government had planned to murder him in the US. He said the struggle for an independent state of Khalistan would not stop at any cost.

It may be mentioned here that the government of America early this year sought a reply from India to allegations that its agents plotted to murder the Sikh separatist leaders, who is a US national.

A senior US official confirmed that Washington had sought reply from New Delhi over India’s conspiracy to murder a Sikh separatist leader on US soil.

The official said that the Indian government had been asked to give proper reply to the allegations of plot to kill the Sikh leader living in the US.

The US last year stated that it had foiled an attempt by India to assassinate the Sikh separatist leader living in the US and warned New Delhi against it.

US President Joe Biden cancelled his planned visit to India to attend the country’s republic day on January 26 after New Delhi’s plot to kill a separatist Sikh leader was exposed by US security agencies.

Earlier last year, relations between India and Canada nosedived after the canadian prime minister accused New Delhi of orchestrating the killing of another Sikh leader in Canada in June.

The Sikh leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is associated with the Sikh for Justice organization, working for the separate homeland for Sikh in India called Khalistan.

The Indian government has already declared Pannun as a wanted terrorist.
