ISLAMABAD: An all parties conference (APC) was held at the President House in Islamabad on completion of one year of Israeli barbarism on the people of Gaza.
A year ago, Israeli forces launched an attack on Gaza and has so far killed over 41,000 people including women and children and the Zionist state has completely disregarded international calls for a ceasefire and has instead expanded its war to Lebanon.
Speakers at the APC said world’s silence on the barbarism of Israel was an insult to humanity.
Though Pakistan like many other Muslim countries has done nothing for the Palestinian people, its political leaders arranged the APC on completion of one year of the war. Almost all political parties except the PTI attended the APC.
Addressing the APC, President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the Israeli aggression on the civilians of Gaza and called upon the international community to stop Tel Aviv from further destruction and massacre of the Gazans.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the APC mentioned his address at the UNGA. He stressed the need for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza, adding the international community especially the Muslim countries should act in stopping Israel from further bloodshed in Gaza.
PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif said that the people of Pakistan want us to do something for the Palestinian people against their suffering at the hands of Israelis. He said the sooner we do something the better it would be. He said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif forcefully took up the Palestinian and Kashmir issues in his address at the United Nations General Assembly.
Mr Sharif regretted that the United Nations could not play its role in maintaining peace in the world. He said that the United Nations also failed to implement its own resolutions on the dispute of Jammu and Kashmir.
Jamiat Ulama-i-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that Hamas Mujahideen attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, and this daredevil attack changed the nature of the Palestinian issue.
The JUI-F chief said that his party was against the two-state solution to the issue of Palestine. He said his party does not recognize any Israeli state because there had been no existence of Jews in the whole territory.
Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also opposed the state of Israel and said the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah had also clearly opposed the state of Israel.
