JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that Israel is prepared to resume military action despite a ceasefire, stating that the country’s “finger is on the trigger.”
In a video address to the nation following the announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, Netanyahu acknowledged that Israel had not achieved all of its objectives in the conflict with Iran.
“We still have more goals to accomplish, and we will achieve them—either through an agreement or through renewed fighting,” he said.
Netanyahu emphasized that the ceasefire was reached in full coordination with the United States and insisted that Israel was not taken by surprise by the development.
He claimed that Israel had achieved “significant successes” during the conflict and asserted that the country is now “stronger than before,” while Iran has been weakened.
Describing the ceasefire as a temporary phase rather than a conclusion, Netanyahu said Israel remains ready to return to combat at any time if necessary.
The statement marks his first public remarks following the ceasefire announcement, coming hours after the agreement was disclosed.
