Suicide attack on a military base in Ghazni, killed 30 security personnel

A suicide car bomber struck a military base on the outskirts of Ghazni City, the capital of Afghanistan’s eastern province of Ghazni, killing at least 30 security personnel and wounding several others.

The attack in Ghazni was the deadliest in the past month, according to Reuters. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, but reports of shootout between Taliban and Afghan forces have circulating.

Ghazni hospital director Baz Mohammad Himmat said 30 bodies and 24 wounded, all security personnel, were brought to the hospital. According to Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Aryan, a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle inside the military base and blown up.

Another suicide car bomb killed a civilian and wounded 20 others in the southern city of Qalat, Zabul Province, however, provincial police chief Hekmatullah was injured in the attack as he was the target.
