Afghan leadership has rare opportunity for peace but must be aware of enemies: Shah Mehmood Qureshi

 

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Afghan counterpart have met, in which Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the Afghan leadership has a rare opportunity for peace, but the enemies of peace must also be aware.

The Foreign Minister and his Afghan counterpart Hanif Atmar met on the sidelines of the 47th OIC Ministerial Council in Niamey, Niger. During the meeting, Pak-Afghan bilateral relations, Afghan peace process, regional situation and promotion of mutual cooperation were discussed.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi condemned the terrorist attacks in Kabul and Bamyan and expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives. He said that the recent visit of the Prime Minister would help in further strengthening the bilateral ties, adding that lasting peace in the region is linked to a peaceful Afghanistan.

However, the Foreign Minister emphasized on promoting economic cooperation and taking advantage of available opportunities.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the Afghan leadership has a rare opportunity for peace but it must also be aware of the enemies of peace.
