IHC reject petition seeking ban on political meetings

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected a petition seeking ban on meetings of political parties which did not implement the corona SOPs, while declared the petition inadmissible.

During the hearing, the petitioner took the position that there was a danger of spreading corona in the country due to gatherings in large numbers.

The petitioner further said that PEMRA should be directed to stop all channels from airing news of violators of orders regarding corrona.

Giving arguments on which the lawyer said that you said in the recent decision that orders of NCOC must be implemented, while despite these orders corona SOPs are being violated.

The court remarks said that we (the court) have given the order and if the administration cannot implement it, then it is up to them, here is the parliament and also the administration. If the society will not fulfill its responsibility then why should the court intervene? No one is following the court order but everyone is involved in politics so why should the court intervene? The petitioner should trust the parliament while a solution can be found there. The court further remarked that such cases should not come before the court.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah in his remarks said that the country is running under the rule of law? The people are not following the SOPs which will affect the poors, the parliament is silent on this issue, the administration is not following it, the citizens are not following it, so why should the court intervene unnecessarily.

The Islamabad High Court later reserved its decision on the petition.
