ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Islamabad on a three-day official visit of Pakistan on Wednesday.
He was received at the Chaklala airbase in Rawalpindi by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and others. A 21-gun salute was presented to the Malaysian prime minister at the airport.
The guest and his delegation were later driven to Islamabad amid tight security. Later, the prime minister of Malaysia and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a meeting and discussed regional and bilateral issues.
During the visit, Pakistan and Malaysia will discuss measures to expand bilateral ties in different sectors such as trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, halal industry, tourism and cultural exchanges.
Pakistan and Malaysia have close relations and have been exchanging delegations to open up new avenues for trade and investment.
The visit of the Malaysian prime minister on the invitation of his counterpart will further boost the relations.
