Nawaz Sharif’s plea for acquittal in Azizia reference fixed for hearing in IHC

ISLAMABAD: An appeal against the sentence of Nawaz Sharif in the Azizia reference has been fixed for hearing in the Islamabad High Court on September 1. The court will review all aspects to acquit former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Appeal against Nawaz Sharif’s sentence in Azizia reference has been fixed for hearing on September 1. Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court on September 1 against the extension of NAB’s sentence and Nawaz Sharif’s acquittal in the flagship reference.

Will Nawaz Sharif be acquitted in Azizia reference or will the sentence be upheld? The Islamabad High Court will hold a hearing on September 1. What will be the effect of the removal of Judge Arshad Malik on the flagship and Azizia reference? Is Nawaz Sharif on bail or a fugitive? All aspects will be decided.

The Registrar Islamabad High Court has issued a formal case list in which NAB’s appeal for extension of Nawaz Sharif’s sentence has also been fixed for hearing. The NAB appeal sought an extension of Nawaz Sharif’s sentence from seven years to 14 years, while the appeal against Nawaz Sharif’s acquittal in the flagship reference will also be heard on September 1.

Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Arshad Malik had pronounced the verdicts of Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship References. The Accountability Court Judge was sacked after the video scandal.

The court had directed the lawyers to give arguments on the implications on the appeals of Judge Arshad Malik’s case. All questions will be answered on September 1.
