SC summon Sindh CM in person in contempt of court

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued a contempt of court notice to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah for not approving the design of construction work for the circular railway in Karachi.

A bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard the case related to the Karachi Circular Railway project. During the hearing, the Chief Justice of Pakistan said that the work on the circular railway should have been completed in two months. There is more work to be done on circular railway Karachi.

The Chief Justice asked why the FWO has not started work yet? On that, the head of Frontier Works Organization said that he had designed the construction work for the circular railway but the design was not approved.

On the inquiry of Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, the DGFWO said informed the court that the Sindh government had to give approval but has not yet been given. 

Expressing anger over the attitude of the provincial government, the Supreme Court issued a contempt of court notice to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and directed the him to appear in person at the next hearing.
