A Turkish court has sentenced dozens of people to life in prison in a 2016 military coup case

ANKARA:  In 2016, an attempt was made to oust current Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from the government with the backing of the military. A religious scholar Fethullah Golan  were supposed to be behind this failed coup.

However, Mr. Golan is resided in the United States, while, Turkey has called his party a terrorist group, but Fethullah has denied it.

In 2016, the Turkish people strongly resisted the government crackdown, but 251 people were killed and more than 2,000 were seriously injured.

A Turkish court has sentenced air force fighter pilots to life in prison more than once for bombing Ankara and plotting a coup from a military base.

The crimes under which he has been convicted include violations of the constitution, mass murder and the assassination of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Chief Justice Ofoq Yaqeen delivered his verdict on the occasion because Chief of Staff Holosi Akar and other top officials were first taken hostage by military officials at a military base in a plot to overthrow the government, which took place on July 16. F-16s attacked parliament and bombed the presidential palace.
