WASHINGTON: The United States of America has asked the Taliban interim government to stop terrorists from carrying out their activities in Pakistan.
At a news conference, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said the US shares with Pakistan an interest to combat threat to regional peace.
He said Pakistan has suffered a lot in terms of human casualties and damages to properties in the decades-long terror incidents. After the withdrawal of the US forces the attacks on Pakistan from Afghan side have increased.
The spokesman said that the US continued to ask the Taliban regime in Kabul to take action against the terror groups and stop their attacks in Pakistan.
It may be mentioned here that fugitive elements such as members of the outlawed Tehreek Taliban Pakistan have taken shelter in Afghanistan and are carrying out attacks on Pakistan.
One of the groups attached to the TTP, according to the ISPR, carried out an attack on Bannu cantonment on July 15 in which eight army personnel were martyred.
Pakistan has lodged a protest with the Taliban regime in Kabul and asked it to take a decisive action against the terrorists and ensure that its soil is not used for launching attacks on Pakistan.
