11 more killed in another clash between two Kurram tribes

DC says efforts underway to ensure peace and open roads for traffic.

PESHAWAR: Two warring tribes in the tribal district of Kurram in Khyber Pakthunkhwa clashed again leaving 11 people dead and scores of others injured.

The dead bodies and injured persons were shifted to hospital by police and other law enforcement agencies.

The two tribes have been using sophisticated weapons against each other for months in which a large number of people have lost their lives.

Deputy Commissioner Kurram Javedullah Mehsood told media that the latest clash occured at Kanj Alizai area in which 11 people were killed and seven others injured. He said that efforts were being made to restore peace and open all roads for traffic.

The two tribes who fought over a piece of land in Kurram district of Khyber Pakthunkhwa had in July agreed to cease fire after 50 lives were lost from both the sides.

The armed tribesmen had dug out trenches from where they continued firing on each other. The deputy commissioner of Kurram had at that time said that the trenches had been vacated from the armed people and security forces deployed there.

He said that for the last over 24 hours there have been no reports about firing from the five places of clashes. He said that talks were underway to ensure permanent peace in the area.
