ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has decided to give consular access to Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav for the third time, and has taken a big risk by agreeing to allow consular officers to meet Kulbhushan Yadav alone as per Indian wishes.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has sent a formal note to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad seeking consular access to Kulbhushan Yadav for the third time, offering Indian consul access to consular access once again.
Sources said that consular access was granted to the Indian spy for the second time yesterday at the request of New Delhi, during which two consuls of the Indian High Commission had a two-hour long meeting with Kulbhushan Yadav. However, unlike in the past, the meeting was ambiguous, meaning that no glass wall or intercom was used between Indian spies and consuls.
Diplomatic sources said that India did not agree to this either, maintaining the old tradition and once again raised the objection that there was a security guard from Pakistan during the meeting so Kulbhushan Yadav could not speak openly. However, the meeting was not recorded on CCTV.
This is the third time that Pakistan has offered consular access and this time no security guards have been assured during the meeting. Experts are calling Pakistan’s move a huge risk, they said. Putting a terrorist and a spy in front of his country’s consul without any monitoring or obstruction will not be without danger.
During the meeting, India could use irrefutable evidence of its terrorism in Pakistan to harm Kulbhushan Yadav in any way, as well as sign a document according to which Kulbhushan Yadav recanted his earlier confessions and put pressure on him. Can be the result of
