‎Our expats a bridge between Pakistan & US, says Bilawal

‎Lauds diplomatic missions for effectively presenting nation’s stance on global platforms during tensions with India.

‎WASHINGTON: PPP Chairman and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has emphasized the role of overseas Pakistanis as a vital bridge between Pakistan and the United States.

‎He was speaking at a reception held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington.

‎”Overseas Pakistanis serve as a living bridge between Pakistan and the rest of the world, particularly the United States,” said Bilawal in his keynote address.

‎”Your engagement is essential in our shared pursuit of peace, prosperity, and meaningful diplomacy.”

‎The reception, hosted in honor of a parliamentary delegation from Pakistan visiting the U.S., brought together key members of the Pakistani-American community from across the country. Discussions at the event centered on strengthening Pakistan-U.S. ties, promoting regional stability, and leveraging the diaspora’s contributions for national development.

‎Addressing recent tensions in South Asia, Bilawal praised the valor of the Pakistani armed forces in defending the country against aggression. He lauded Pakistan’s diplomatic missions for effectively presenting the nation’s stance on global platforms.

‎”Pakistan acted as a responsible party during the recent India-Pakistan escalation. Our mission is peace through dialogue and diplomacy,” he stated. “We urge the international community to support this vision. Sustainable peace in South Asia hinges on inclusive and constructive dialogue.”

‎Bilawal also highlighted the vast economic potential that regional cooperation holds. He noted that normalization of trade between India and Pakistan could yield significant mutual benefits and uplift the entire region.

‎Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, also addressed the audience, warning of the dangers posed by India’s aggressive posture. He criticized India’s approach as being rooted in suspicion rather than evidence, and condemned the targeting of civilians, including children, by Indian forces.

‎The attendees, comprising community leaders, professionals, and members of civil society, expressed unwavering support for Pakistan’s armed forces and leadership. They reaffirmed their commitment to representing Pakistan’s interests abroad with unity and dedication.

‎Pakistan’s Ambassador to the U.S. Rizwan Saeed Sheikh concluded the event by thanking the community for their participation and reiterating the embassy’s commitment to fostering strong people-to-people ties.

‎”Our mission reflects the power of dialogue and unity,” he said. “We will continue to amplify Pakistan’s voice on the global stage, and true stability will come when we achieve economic strength.”

‎The reception marked a significant step in deepening engagement between Pakistan’s leadership and its diaspora, reinforcing the country’s message of peace, cooperation, and forward-looking diplomacy.
