Global Conference Highlights Atrocities Against Minorities in India

BAKU: A global conference is being held in Azerbaijan to address the atrocities committed against minorities in India. Participants at the event expressed serious concern over India’s oppressive policies toward minority communities.

According to international broadcaster AzarTech News, this is the first global conference to focus on India’s treatment of minorities.

The event has drawn attention to the systematic violence against Sikhs, including the 1984 riots, where between 8,000 and 17,000 Sikhs were killed, over 50,000 were forced to migrate, and numerous enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings occurred between 1980 and 1990.

The conference is seen as a platform to bring India’s human rights violations into the global agenda. The coverage highlights Pakistan’s balanced foreign policy and vocal stance against India’s actions, which has triggered negative reactions from pro-Indian media outlets.

Indian media outlet News18 reportedly labeled Sikh leaders exposing India’s policies as extremists. Some outlets also accused Azerbaijan of adopting Pakistan’s narrative on the Kashmir issue, despite prior evidence from countries like Canada implicating India in orchestrated killings of Sikh leaders.
